Federica
Nocerino
Communication Strategist & Community Builder
I help open-source organisations tell better stories, build stronger communities, and show up in the right rooms. Multilingual, governance-curious, and equally at home at a policy roundtable and a game jam.
Where community
meets strategy
Making the Complex Accessible
With a background in Languages, Media, and Communications and several years working inside open-source foundations, I've learned that the best communication isn't the loudest. It's the clearest. I turn technical roadmaps, governance decisions, and community milestones into content and campaigns that people actually read.
Contributing Where It Counts
As an Expert Group Member of the Digital Commons Task Force for the Horizon Europe NGI Commons project, I get a front-row seat to how European digital infrastructure is being shaped. I contribute a communications and community lens to conversations that are usually dominated by lawyers and policy researchers.
Community is the Work
I lead GDG Brussels and founded the city's first Women Techmakers chapter. I co-design recommendations for how vocational education systems can support women through digital transitions. Outside the 9-to-5, I'm an Ambassador for Women in Games — community isn't a feature of the job. It's the whole point.
Areas of Expertise
Marketing & Communications Strategy
Developing and executing communications plans for open-source foundations: messaging frameworks, PR, press releases, editorial calendars, newsletter strategy, social media, and report promotion.
Community Building & Developer Relations
Scaling developer and contributor communities from zero to thousands. I run programmes, workshops, and content pipelines that make people feel genuinely welcome — and keep them around.
Institutional & Stakeholder Communication
Managing communications across technical and institutional stakeholders — from member digests and advisory board decks to executive outreach and sponsorship coordination.
Open Source Policy & Digital Commons
Working at the intersection of open source and European digital policy — translating those conversations for practitioners. Contributing to the NGI Commons DCTF and the Connecting Women in Digital Forum.
Event Strategy & Programme Management
End-to-end event management — FOSDEM, KubeCon, Open Source Summit Europe, Hannover Messe, and more. From sponsorship prospectus to post-event reporting.
Multilingual Content & Multimedia
Drafting, editing, and proofreading in English, French, and Italian. Producing blog posts, case studies, interview series, video content, and social assets.
